Joey from Maiden and Crow Tattoo said it well: Heavy Metal and Tattoo’s just go together! And with a killer show from Black Plague (Roanoke, Va), Fractured Frames (Asheville, Nc), and Survived By No One (Roanoke, Va) he definitely had the right idea.
I listened to Survived by No One before venturing into the shop and they brought their thrash, death, groove, and doom straight to the opening! I was hooked quite quickly to their sound. If you ever get a chance to check them out, do it.
Fractured Frames blew me away. I hadn’t heard of them before (where the hell have I been?) and I couldn’t stop listening. There was no walking away and doing something else. You can follow their Bandcamp site here!
And let me not deny the part that we drive 2 hours to see our friends from Black Plague and these guys were on fire! I had the privilege to interview them at the beginning of the year (check it out here) and go like their page!!!
But let’s get to the real reason we were there – which is Maiden and Crow Tattoo located right next to the Spot on Kirk. So if you ever find yourself out in Roanoke, go in and say hi and find yourself a new tattoo!
