I am normally not as prepared but a few weeks ago decided to keep my gear in the car and when I went to Mayhem in the ‘Ville and started talking with Joe, he agreed to do an interview with Braincell right after the show.
Braincell is a five-piece groove/thrash metal outfit based in Lynchburg, Virginia. You have Joe on the vocals, Richet and Stephan on guitar, Will on bass and DJ on the drums. The seasoned members coming from a variety of backgrounds, Braincell has combined the elements of death metal, punk, hardcore, progressive, and traditional heavy metal to offer a unique and powerful blend of full force headbanging madness. The result is a sound of combined aggression and melody, delivered with an unstoppable high energy live show.
And there is no question that they brought their passion to the show, with Joe doing his thing in the middle of the pit and a red inflated lobster amongst the show goers.
And even though I’ve been following them for awhile, this was my first opportunity to see them live.
Even though the interview with Braincell was short and to the point, we were able to touch on some key points and that being in a band is not only a business but also like marriage and that communication is absolute key in making this work for them.
And it was great to hear that each member of the band actually also has their own distinct music taste that helps them with their own creative work when it comes to writing new songs.
They are currently putting together their next EP which is what we were able to hear at the show and you will be able to hear too if you decide to go.
Their next show is coming up on Sunday, November 3rd // All Ages
