Interview with Stephanie Dominguez

Stephanie Dominguez is the artist behind Cuddly Zombie Creations. She is an Artist, Streamer, Model/Cosplayer, Mom and friend to many little zombies. 

Who you are and what you do:

I started crafting as a way to pass the time when I was on bed rest during my pregnancy. I have been working with polymer clay for almost 5 years. I started with photoshop for fun almost 13 years ago originally only doing it for myself and a few friends. Took me a long time to get confident enough in it to finally try to make money of of what skill I feel I have.

What’s your favorite piece of work that you have created?

My favorite item that I ever made was a tiny red dragon statue out of polymer clay. I felt a combination of joy and sadness when I sold this statue to s sweet little boy at a convention.

What are your goals for the future, both work wise and life?

My short term goal is to make enough from my crafting to live off of but my long term is to make enough to have not just a online store but a physical store to sell myitems at.

What are you doing when you’re not creating?

When I’m not crafting I‘m spending time with my daughter. My daughter loves to play legos and she has such an active imagination just like I did when I was a kid so my hope is for her to have just as much love in art as I do.

What (other) hobbies do you have?

My other hobby is cosplay, I go to comic con and other conventions all dressed up as my favorite characters. I travel to local Comic con and other conventions I sell my crafty items there.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I think what surprises most people that don’t know me is when I tell them how old I am or that I have a child. I think it is either because I have a “baby face” and look younger, or because I‘m also big into things like comic books and cartoons that usually only children are interested in. I personally feel you have to grow old but who says you have to grow up.

What else should we know about you and your work?

So far with all of my clay work I haven’t used any molds to make any of my items.

Do you have any tips or inspiring words for others?

It took me a long time to finally find a art medium that I was good at. So to anyone who thinks they have no artistic ability maybe you just haven’t found what works for you.
