For Black History Month I’m highlighting appreciation for black artists and black excellence across Metal/Punk/Rock. A testament to breaking down barriers, stereotypes and changing the narrative, inspiring the younger generations to be who and what they want to be without fear.
I remember the 1st time I came across this band in 07-08, I was moved by the collective and creation from this multicultural group but what struck me and woke me where the lyrics from their entire album “Fight with Tools” I give you Stephen Malloy Brackett from the rock band Flobots!
Stephen is a very passionate and vocal person for just and equality which can for sure be heard in his fury of rhythms, he’s very active in his community and across the country being involved in the change that’s been unfolding, he’s an inspiration to the younger generations and will be for more to come! Check them out! I suggest you listen to “Rise” that song is the very embodiment of the world we live in and the world we need
