The idea of writing an article sounds like a lot of fun. Wouldn’t it be cool if someone could search your name and find tons of things you have written about? Wouldn’t it be great if all these articles gave you traffic back to your website? The idea of having articles is great but actually writing them can be difficult. Make it a lot easier on yourself by writing the way you talk, writing as simply as possible, and writing as fast as possible.
You definitely want to write the same way you talk. I know that back when you were in school you might have gotten extra points for writing in fancy language. But on the Internet, you get points for helping people solve their problems as quickly as possible. When you write the way you talk, the way you type it out is the way your final draft will be. That means you don’t have to go back and change sentences around and try to be fancy. You write it once and it’s done.
You should not just write the way you talk but also write in as simple language as possible. Write in short sentences. Write at a fourth-grade reading level and basically get to the point as fast as you can and say as much as you can in as few words as possible. That brings me to my final piece of advice to write as fast as you possibly can.
Your article should just be an idea or two. Get the idea down and move on. I used to have five or ten drafts open of unfinished articles at the same time and some of those would sit around for weeks or months. But as soon as I trained myself to start an article and finish it, I found that the article made a lot more sense. I was able to finish everything I started and therefore produce a lot more articles than I had done previously.
That’s how you’re going to get the most out of writing articles and writing them quickly. Write the way you talk, write as simple as possible, and finish the article as fast as possible.
