Create your own Success Team

We all like to think that we are super people – we think that we can be successful on our own. And sure, there are a ton of things we can do by ourselves. But what happens when you find yourself in a funk? What happens if you find yourself in a spot to throw in the towel and quit on your dreams + goals?

Think of your favorite musician or band – they may write the songs and develop the tunes but they don’t do the legal work, marketing, advertising or public relations. Yes, they may come on a live stream or do an interview but in general, the big headlines don’t necessarily reach out themselves.

And yes, there is the exception to the rule where some Artists do indeed do the bulk of the work.

But in general, people that follow their dreams + goals have a team that supports them.

You will want to choose people who are experts in a given field and that you can trust without fail to do the job. Here’s the thing, while you will want to trust them, you don’t want them to run your empire without you in the middle of it.

You will want to be in constant communication and with today’s technology this isn’t going to be a problem – and if it becomes on such as not being able to agree on a time – then perhaps it’s time to re-evaluate your team.

Your success team can be made up of accountability partners, accountants, coaches, mentors or other needed experts that will help you achieve your dreams + goals.

When it comes to following your dreams + goals, it’s important that you stay in your own personal zone of genius and do that thing you’re really good at. Of course, when you’re multi-passionate like myself that can be a bit more challenging but not impossible.

If you’re not good at building websites, then you would reasonably anticipate that you outsource this. Or if you are struggling with a marketing strategy and implementing it, you would hire someone to help you.

By picking a team to help you and guide you, you give yourself the time to focus on your area of speciality.

So what should you look for in your success team? Someone who

  • You feel a connection to and comfortable with
  • Is dedicated to keeping up to date with their professional education
  • Has an excellent track record in their field
  • Has excellent references that you can check up
  • Integrates well with the rest of your success team

Where would you find your success team?

The best way is to find them from personal recommendation but also doing research by looking up the kind of people you need to be part of your team and then have a conversation with them. This will help you determine if they are a good match and if you feel like you make a good team.

Keep in mind that your team isn’t just lawyers and accountants, it could also be an accountability partner or mastermind support. you could also consider your friends, family, and colleagues who support you and believe in what you are doing. It’s much better to have them around you than naysayers who will drag you down and try to stop you succeeding. Because really who has time for all the complaining and whining these days?

Surrounding yourself with a team will give you the opportunity to focus on what you do best for yourself and your life + business. Your success team can focus on what they do best, freeing up your time and efforts to become even more successful.
