Are you in the state of resistance?

Do you find yourself rebelling against systems and strategies? Do you find yourself in resistance of taking action on something that you know will help you achieve what you want?

Or maybe you just can’t seem to read what everyone else is reading, listening to what everyone else is reading.
Are you in fear of going against the grain? Wonder if people will like you even though you tend to do things differently than most people?

The other day, I had an amazing opportunity to reflect on resistance and pondered whether I am in the state of it, or if this is just my natural existence.

I make no qualms about the fact that I have never read Harry Potter or that I am not into Sons of Anarchy or any other show that seems to be a hit right now.

Am I missing something by not engaging in what doesn’t interest me?

I don’t think so.

I also make no qualms about it that whatever top strategy for business is recommended and falls under the “should” category, I abstain from engaging in it. I don’t know how many times I have heard I ought to be on FB Live and how that will help my business.

Does that mean I am losing out on some potential sales?

Perhaps.

But I fully believe that when we are clear on how we want to show up in this world, we know what will work best for us.

But what can feel like resistance may just be your natural way of being.

There is something beautiful for being a non-conformist, a rebel of sorts, because it really gives you the opportunity to lead from a place of your true essence.

The challenge that then arises is that you find yourself not fitting into the norm. And if you are like me, someone who has battled the notion of fitting in, this can be very painful.

Therefore, I find self-awareness and daily journaling work so crucial. It gives you the opportunity to really tap into your core, to really be honest with yourself. And acknowledge that being different, that being a non-conformist isn’t actually a bad thing.

We all are on our personal journey, and it will all look very different.

To grow, we need to push our comfort zone, and if we are truly aligned with a specific action, then yes, we need to engage.
And sometimes, if something doesn’t feel good and it turns your inside into knots, only you can decide if this is you being a rebel or if this is you coming upon resistance.

Ask yourself:

  • What will this action bring me?
  • How do you feel about this action?
  • Is this action aligned with my personal vision of how I want to show up in this world?
  • Am I resisting? And this one, just listen to your inner voice.

The thought about resistance is why I created My Rebel Year. It’s part magazine, part workbook, part personal-development + self-help that you can do on your own time, or with the benefit of monthly coaching.

The theme for 2020 was Rise Above and I couldn’t have predicted how fitting it was and the theme for 2021 is Love yourself. If you are ready to both then join the membership today!
