Create a business that feels good

When I first started my coaching business, all I wanted to do was help people. It’s still what I want to do and continue to do but I had to stop and create a business that feels good too me. But as an intuitive empath and introvert, I needed to leverage how I can create income without expanding all my energy.

You can’t be everything to everyone but you can be unapologetically you in the process.

Have clarity on what you want to be, do or have

You can’t create the life or business if you don’t know the be, do or have. You need that kind of clarity to help you give yourself direction. Deciding to start a business means knowing your purpose of your business (all the why’s and what’s). It’s about knowing your passions but more importantly recognizing which passion will be the one you are monetizing on. Not every passion is a great business idea.

You don’t need to jump on the bandwagon

There are folks out there that tell you to follow this strategy or that strategy. Or you should do this or that. And if you have been reading my blogs, you know that I am all about doing what feels good and right to you. But this came with some lessons to learn.

When periscope made its appearance, everyone was on periscope and everyone said: “be on periscope”. I gave it a try a time or three but every time I did a periscope, it just didn’t feel right. And I gave myself permission to let that go and not be on that channel.

But I am excited about building video visibility on YouTube and am currently planning some content and things I want to talk about. I am in the early stages but have the reached the point of “yes this feels good”.

Social Media is great but watch for the burnout

I love hanging out on social media, posting and engaging. What I don’t love is the lack of conversation that is happening. It’s hard to engage when one is bombarded with promo after promo. One of the strategies recommended is to be helpful.

And here comes the challenge: How can you be helpful if no one asks a question. A few months ago, I reached social media burnout and I am so grateful for it because it made me ask myself how I wanted to show up in the online world. Cue the daily blogging challenge I set myself, that is still going strong.

Being able to get clear on where I want to show up and how I want to show up, set into motion ideas and dreams I want to create and define on where I am going to put my focus. I still engage and participate in Facebook Groups, but it’s no longer from a feeling of necessity.

Teach what you know

I know lots of things, some may refer this to jack of all trades but really, I love learning and I have lots of interests. It’s taking me a few months to figure this one out but everything happens in due time. People have dreams and often are a bit scared to go after them but mostly they don’t know how to make them happen.

There is a conversation about just getting started but isn’t that just difficult if you don’t know where to begin? I thought so, and that is why I created courses around things that I have done, such as building handmade commerce or writing a book.

Get started because your time is now

The biggest challenge of creating a business that feels good is getting started. I hear it all the time of what people want to do and they talk about it that eventually this or someday that but the truth is, with this kind of a mindset, it will never happen.

If you want to start a business that feels good, even if you are still in a job, start now. Start by doing the research around your business by finding out what other people are doing in the field (no don’t copy them) but just see what their offers (service/products) are, what they are blogging about and find yourself a mentor/coach that can help you move along.
