You discovered your dream and you know why you want to make it happen. But you’re stuck on how to clear your road blocks that are stopping you from taking action. You are riddled with resistance, frustration, and procrastination.
NO, I am not, you say!
Really?
Then what is stopping you from moving forward? Sometimes we cannot see what is getting in the way of doing the work, of showing up and taking action. And road blocks are serving a purpose – they are not bad or evil, they are simply signs to reflect and dig a little deeper in what we want and how we want to show up for that!
Here are a few tips to help you along the way to clear those roadblocks, so you can move forward with more ease.
- Write your Dream out. Give it a visual! What does it look like or feel like?
- Brainstorm all the possible ways to get there. Don’t hold back, just free write everything that comes to mind that you can do, even if it seems too far-fetched.
- Create a new action plan around your dream using your brainstorming possibilities.
- Check in with yourself. Is this dream still on par that is getting you all excited about? Give yourself permission to dream.
When I graduated with my accounting degree, I struggled to put myself out there to get a job. I believed I wanted the experience to work towards becoming a CPA. Only to get a job and realize that sitting in an office in a cubicle isn’t really my jam.
It turned out I wasn’t aligned with that career and that my vision is vastly different from I thought it would be.
I sat down and designed a new vision, one that supported who I am while also fitting my values and beliefs. For years I believed, foster kids cannot succeed professionally or even personally. And it’s the stories we create around our experiences that keep is from not going all in.
Every time I hear someone share their dream, they also tend to bring up all the reasons of why they cannot achieve said dream and I made it my mission to overcome the roadblocks because nothing get’s me more excited than someone finally taking action and realizing they have everything they need to reach their goals.
