Are you thinking of starting an online business? You know you need a website and blog, but are you confused as to which platform to start using?

There are a lot of different options and site builders – but I personally love to use WordPress. It’s the platform I’ve been using almost since it’s birth from starting my first blog to now running several websites for myself and clients.

Here are the reasons to use WordPress!

It’s Open Source (FREE!)

WordPress is open-source, which means it’s free! You will need to buy a domain (URL), and purchase web hosting, but you will never spend money on the WordPress software. This will actually keep your cost down as opposed to using a software that charges you every month.

Plus, since it’s opensource, other developers are constantly working on things to make improvements. There are hundreds of people across the globe working on it, and it is updated regularly.

You don’t have to pay for the upgrades. But it is great knowing that you are working on a software that is constantly being improved, to deliver you the BEST results.

It’s Popular

WordPress is popular! This means that you will always be able to find help when you get stuck. If you ever come across something that you don’t understand, someone will have an answer for you. There’s a wide community of people using WordPress, from home business owners to large international corporations. It’s the only platform I use all of my website needs.

Another bonus is that because it’s so popular, you will find that many of the other applications and programs you use will integrate with WordPress. this is perhaps one of my main reasons to continue to stay with WordPress. It will literally grow with your business.

It’s Flexible

WordPress is flexible! Which means that you truly can “make it your own.”

There are many theme options. The theme you choose will determine the layout and styling of your website and blog. There are free themes and paid themes – you can select the one that works best for your business and your budget.

You can do a lot with WordPress, right after you install it. Plugins help you personalize it and make it even more powerful.

  • Do you want a spiffy contact form? There’s a plugin for that.
  • Do you want to display your latest Instagram photos on the sidebar of your blog? There’s a plugin for that.
  • Do you want to create a fancy slideshow of your latest posts? There’s a plugin for that!

There are plugins for all kinds of things. Some of them make your website and blog look different, and some of them help you manage your blog and website.

It Really Is Easy To Use

One of the biggest complains I hear about WordPress is how challenging it is to use. But the reality is that any new software or program will feel challenging in the beginning. There may be a little bit of a learning curve on other things – but that happens whenever you are using a program for the first time.

ordPress is really easy to use! If you have ever used a word processing software (like Microsoft Word or Google Docs) you will be able to create posts and pages in WordPress.

And remember – if you ever get stuck on figuring out how to do something, you will be able to find your answer by googling it or you can ask me.

It Is Built For Managing Content!

WordPress was built for managing your content! It’s a Content Management System (CMS).

It was created to organize your content, making it easy for you to highlight the things you want people to read as soon as they get to your site, and making it easy for your readers to find the information they are looking for.
