To write love on her arms

It seems that a lot of us are impacted by suicide in some kind of a way. Even I at one point thought I’d be better off dead than alive to rid myself to the pain I felt every single day.

I don’t know how I came across “To write love on her arms” but I made a note to feature it here on the blog, and as I explored the website, learning the vision but more so how it all get started, I was moved to tears. Read it here!

How loving and awe-inspiring it is that people can indeed be present for other people, to hold the space and find a way to help. And who knew that this one thing, would lead into something bigger.

To Write Love on Her Arms is a nonprofit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and invest directly into treatment and recovery.

And it’s nothing but astounding what they have achieved since 2006 – from responding to 200,00 messages, to traveling 3.3 Million miles, shipped merchandise to 98 countries, received a 1 Million dollar grant and shared 1000 stories via their blog and they have donated 2 Million to Treatment + Recovery.

It’s not hard to care about other people, to be kind but more importantly to listen and hold space for them as they are struggling with demons that you and I cannot understand. We all have them and yet they are all so different.

You can help and get involved with TWLOHA by donating, purchasing a shirt, partner with them, host a benefit, start a chapter at your college, and so many other ways that let people know they are not alone.

World Suicide Prevention Day is September 10th and National Suicide Prevention Week is September 8-14th! Join TWLOHA for their You make today better campaign!
