Celebrate your achievements

Do you ever take a moment to celebrate your achievements in your life? I didn’t for the longest time. Every day was just about seeing how much I could do in terms of dealing with the life I had – at it wasn’t always pretty – and raising my children.

A few years ago, I had a coaching session and one of the things that blew me away was to actually take a moment to celebrate my achievements. I was a little befuddled because well, I was always talking about what I had overcome. But the truth is, I never have celebrated and acknowledged my successes.

When we do things, we always do them because they are part of life. Going to college becomes so matter of fact. Finding a job and stick with it, well why wouldn’t you do that? Raising our children to be good people, we can hope we make the right choices.

The call ended with me wondering how I had not acknowledged my wins in life. Going to college isn’t a small feat. As a matter of fact, when you are a mother and single parenting, it’s rather huge. Or how about making the National Deans List. That is an honor but I just told myself because of it part of the work I did all casual like.

Or that I made it through growing up in foster care and not becoming a statistic? Or how I survived sexual trauma and have been in a relationship that’s working? Or the part where I am no longer struggling financially?

There is always something to celebrate!

When you celebrate your accomplishments, you are becoming a confident powerhouse. All over sudden there is that belief you are ready to rock this world. I want to ask you what achievements could you celebrate?

  • Did you go to technical school or college?
  • Or how about being in a job for more than a year?
  • What about raising your children, are they turning out okay?
  • What about in your childhood, were you an athlete or an artist?
  • Did you perform in front of an audience or were you part of the debate team?
  • Did you survive something traumatic in your life and overcome the odds?

Since celebrating all my wins in life, I noticed that small wins become big wins. The wins in your life allow you to be joyous and separate you from misery.  You will feel less frustrated, stressed, and are not angered.

This is not to say there are not still challenges in my life. Owning up to my accomplishments helps confirm me and my strength.

Writing out your wins in life helps you get a visual of it all.  By doing so you are becoming more confident in your abilities to handle life.

Tracking your wins every week will keep you focused on your goals – and in my 90-Day Goal Planner that’s part of the Rebels Tool Kit, you will find a weekly review worksheet for your to fill out and acknowledge what’s gone good!
