One of the toughest things to hear when life feels like a ton of brick has hit you is that gratitude brings more happiness into your life. Because when everything feels like shit and the world is in chaos, the last thing you want to think about is gratitude. You are looking for quick and tangible solutions to find a little bit more peace into your life.

I couldn’t wrap my head around it as I was trying to feed a family of 6 for about 10 dollars a day, keeping my son alive, going to college and make sure everyone was doing what they were supposed to at home or at school. It didn’t leave a lot of room to look for the things that I could have been grateful for.

In hindsight, however there are definitely a 100 things I am grateful for such as organ donation, student loans (even if I am paying for them for life), and every single member in our family.

I’ve been practicing more gratitude – daily actually – and it’s made a huge difference on the days that feel like shit – although those days it can be a lot harder to find something to be grateful for. I tend to take a look back on what I’ve already written and usually find something pop into my mind – even if it’s been coffee in the morning for 5 days straight.

It has been proven time and time again that people who practice gratitude brings more happiness into your life. However, this is one of those things in life that you have to experience for yourself before you will be able to fully believe it and before you’ll embrace it.

The power resides in the practice and commitment of doing it every single day – even if you don’t feel like it!
