7 Pieces of Soul

A piece of my soul came back today.
Where it had gone, I could not say.
I knew it when it came to me,
in a scream, in a dream, in a melody.

A remnant of the shattered whole
escaped with skin, with voice, and so..
Though wounded in the tattered void.
The bleeding sky the light deployed.

With trembling mass, each lowly inch
it claimed, but never did it flinch,
from darkness though it saw the threat.
It conquered then, it conqueres yet.

Oh soul, where have you been, I cried!
I knew you left, I thought you died.
But never was it far from me,
in a scream, in a dream, in a melody.
