10 Questions to ask yourself

The best way to learn is to copy the masters, but that will not help you find your own voice. There comes a point where you have to step away and start exploring who you are and what you stand for so that you can find your own voice.

Your voice shows up in paintings, music and many other mediums but the challenge is just how do you go about discovering your own style that supports what you stand for and believe in.

The challenge is that if you’ve had your voice stifled and hidden from yourself then it can be uncomfortable to speak your own truth.

As a recovering co-depenendent I emulated what I believed I had to in order to be loved and liked by the people in my world – and nothing could be further from the truth. The more I spoke in my voice the more I liked myself and the embraced who I am. Yes, people left my world but new people came into my space. And in a lot of ways, I am better for it.

No longer do I had who I am or what I believe in so I encourage you to explore the following questions to find your own voice.

  1. What angers you?
  2. What makes you cry?
  3. What have you overcome?
  4. What have you mastered?
  5. What did you want to be when you were younger?
  6. If you had all the money in the world what would you do?
  7. If you had all the time in the world what would you do?
  8. What change would you like to see in your life?
  9. What change would you like to see in the world?
  10. If this was your last day on the planet, how would you spend it?

So why do these question matter when finding your voice?

Well they allow you to go exploring of what is actually holding you back and slowly but surely bring out all the things you stand for and believe in.

Let me share with you :

I get angry when people don’t follow their ideas, dreams and passions. I believe you were given them for a reason and it’s your job to ensure that they come into reality. I cry when people give up on themselves because of the stories or excuses they bring and state why they can’t follow their dreams.

I’ve overcome living in foster care through neglect and abuse. I’ve mastered to adapt to whatever challenge comes my way – to go with the motion – this is what foster care has given me and prepared me to go through the journey with my son.

I wanted to be an artist, a rock star. And in a way, I have achieved this already. I interview amazing people and sell my own art. But I also get to help and support people on their journey – and that in its self is rock star material if you asked me.

I want to see people believing in themselves. I want people to support one another instead of tearing each other up. I want for people to get clear on what they want and then go after it to make it happen.

And I am doing this with my blog – this blog is my voice. My voice for change and transformation. My voice to share with you that your life can look and feel like what you want – and it doesn’t have to be lived in a box.
